Panther Valley Golden Agers

The Annual Memorial Mass of the Panther Valley Golden Agers was held on May 14 at St. Joseph's Church, Summit Hill. The celebrants were the Rev. James Burdess and the Rev. Kenneth Medve. Eleven members from the past year were remembered with a candle being lit for each deceased member.

A meeting was held after Mass with 50 members attending. A "Letter To My Mother" was read by Betty Orsulak and a hoagie lunch was enjoyed by all present.

This was the last meeting to be held at St. Joseph's Hall. There will be no meeting on Memorial Day and the next meeting will be held June 11 at a new location St. John The Evangelist Slovak Lutheran Church Social Hall, 1 East Abbott St., Lansford, at 1 p.m.

Parade parking

Parking regulations for the annual Summit Hill Memorial Day Parade have been released by borough police.

The regulations are effective on Monday, May 28. They will be enforced from 8 a.m. until after the parade ends.

Vehicles in violation will be ticketed and towed away at the owners' expense.

Parking will be prohibited as follows: Market, both sides, from Fell to Holland streets; West Ludlow Street, both sides from Chestnut Street to St. Joseph's Church; East Ludlow Street, north side from Oak to Chesnut streets; White Street, entire length, both sides from St. Joseph Church to Maple Street; Maple Street (inside cemetery), both sides; Elm Street, both sides from Ludlow to Hazard streets; West Hazard Street, north side between Market and Walnut streets; and East Ludlow Street (inside cemetery), north side between Maple and Elm streets.

Democrats to meet

The Jeffersonian Democratic Club, Summit Hill, will meet on Thursday, May 24, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. Nathan Halenar, president, will be in charge of the session, during which time plans for the fall campaign will be discussed.

St. John Lutheran

Tonight at 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship. This will be a spiritual, peaceful, evening service with Holy Communion.

All are welcome to this relaxed, brief, musical, evening prayer.

For those who wish to come early, a free simple supper is served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief adult Bible study and confirmation program at 6:30.
