Lions to meet April 2
Palmerton Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, April 2, at the Palmerton Library. Members are encouraged to bring a guest.
The club will serve as a sponsor of the annual Carbon-Tamaqua Unit of the American Cancer Society Telethon on April 14-15, at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe. The telethon will be broadcast live on BRCTV-13 and Service Electric Cable Television.
In conjunction with the Blue Mountain Health System, the club is co-sponsoring a community health fair to be held at 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 21, at Palmerton Hospital. There will be free health screenings, educational information, refreshments and door prize drawings.
The health fair is for adults of all ages and there is no charge to participate. Pre-registration for some screenings may be required. For information call Menna at (610) 826-5983.
Community members are encouraged to donate their used eyeglasses or hearing aids during this event. A box will be available to place them in at the registration table.
