Break-ins, theft incidents reported

State police at Lehighton reported on burglaries and theft incidents investigated by troopers.

The residence at 169 Acorn Lane, Polk Township, Monroe County, was entered through an open rear bedroom window. Once inside the criminals removed a Wii, Xbox 360, and a Smith & Weston 9mm handgun. The theft occurred sometime between June 1 and July 3. The home is owned by Courtney Lee, 37, of Stroudsburg.Troopers are investigating a break-in at 1220 Pennell Road, in Saylorsburg, Ross Township, Monroe County. Entry was gained through a kitchen window. Once inside the criminals removed a stainless steel Colt Defender 45-caliber gun, a black Glock 23 40-caliber gun, jewelry box, and assorted jewelry. The serial number on the Colt is 19309, and on the Glock PV650. The incident was reported at 4:30 p.m. on July 13.A witness observed a suspect and gave the following description: a white male, middle to late teens, wearing a black T-shirt, black and gray shorts, and black baseball hat. He was last seen getting into a silver four-door sedan driven by a white male.An attempted burglary at 121 Jungle Road, Kunkletown, Polk Township, Monroe County, is being probed. An attempt was made to enter a garage on the property and steal a lawn mower. The property owner is Margaret Serafin, 68. The incident occurred on June 29.A street sign was reported stolen in Polk Township. The sign was located at the intersection of Gun Club Road and New York Blvd. It was taken sometime overnight between July 4-5.Michael Trine, 57, of Jim Thorpe, reported someone stole a folding chair from a tree stand located in the area of 145 Vaugh Acres Drive, in Towamensing Township, Carbon County. The theft was reported at 7:25 p.m. on July 4.Troopers said a wallet with credit cards were removed from the pickup truck of Paul Guzick, 54, while parked at 292 Boulder Oak Drive, Palmerton, Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County, sometime between July 5-6. The cards were then used to make purchases in stores throughout the Lehighton and Whitehall areas.Troopers reported on two acts of criminal mischief.David Eugene Fenton, 62, of 1350 Lower Smith Gap Road, Kunkletown, Eldred Township, Monroe County, reported someone knocked down a sign at the end of his driveway. The incident was reported at 1:37 p.m. on June 28.Joan Bell, 68, of 310 Serfass Rd., Gilbert, Polk Township, reported someone placed toilet paper on trees on her property. The incident occurred sometime between 1 and 4:50 a.m. on July 7.Troopers said on July 3 about 12:30 p.m. a black cloth purse was brought to the barracks. It was found along Pennell Road in Ross Township. It contained a cell phone, woman's bi-fold, and cosmetic items.Anyone with information on any of these incidents is asked to call troopers at (610) 377-4270.
