Schuylkill driver flees police

A Schuylkill County driver fled police but later turned himself into authorities. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident began about 11:35 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6, along SR209 near Rausch Creek Road, in Tremont Township.

Troopers attempted to stop a 1993 Subaru Legacy at that location for a license plate violation. The driver refused to stop and turned right onto E. Franklin St. The pursuit continued into the village of Donaldson and entered on a dirt road off Fountain Road, in Frailey Township. The vehicle was found unattended off Middle Creek Road.Later in the morning Wayne Kimmel, 19, of Donaldson, appeared at the barracks and confessed to being the driver of the vehicle at the time of the pursuit. Troopers said various charges will be filed against Kimmel with District Judge Carol Pankake of Tremont.
