Lansford Fire Dept. had 17 calls last month

American Fire Co. No. 1 of Lansford responded to 17 alarms during January, according to the monthly report compiled by Fire Chief Joseph Cannon.

Of those calls, six were automatic alarms, four were EMS assists, and two were for motor vehicle accidents.The other calls were one each for dwelling/structure fire, public assist, investigations, RIT (rapid intervention team), and stand-by status.Of the responses, 13 were in Lansford, and one each were in Summit Hill, Coaldale, Nesquehoning, and Tamaqua.There was one fund-raising event during which 14 members participated.Four training sessions were held involving 17 personnel. A total of 174.5 man-hours were spent on training, Cannon reported.Fire company members participated in two community service events, with eight members involved expending a collective 64.75 man hours.Four personnel were involved in administrative duties, which involved a total of 20 hours, or 80 total man-hours.
