At the July 22, 2009 Nesquehoning council meeting an announcement to dismiss Officer Nick Saulo surprised the public in attendance. Officer Saulo was an ex-Marine and was thought highly of by the community. A roll-call vote was taken on the dismissal of the officer. Michael Sniscak Jr., Frank DiMiceli, Richard Zabroski, and Don DeMarco voted yes. Rose Walck voted no. Mark Stromelo and David Hawk were absent. The dismissal occurred one day before Officer Saulo would have completed his probationary period.Two and a half years later at the February 22, 2012 council meeting it was announced that Nick Saulo's lawsuit was settled. Individuals named in the lawsuit were Michael Sniscak Jr., Frank DiMiceli, Richard Zabroski, and Don DeMarco. There was no reason given for the dismissal of Nick Saulo. How can you sue if there is no allegation? Evidently, the allegation could not be substantiated!It's appalling that low life people under false allegations endangered a man's ability to earn a living!The cost of this unfounded dismissal: the monetary settlement, lawyer fees, and now the increase in the insurance premium will certainly take a bite out of the council budget. Just what the borough didn't need in these times of a poor economy, unemployment and the decreasing tax base.Justice prevailed and all of us are wishing Nick Saulo success in his future undertakings.Louise MeleNesquehoning
