Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on two driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by officers.
On Monday, Sept. 19, about 1:56 a.m. officers were dispatched to an accident along Echo Lake Road in Coolbaugh Township. The investigation revealed that Joseph Bertino, 32, of Tobyhanna, was eastbound when he lost control of his 2005 Honda. The vehicle left the road and struck a mailbox and then a utility pole, sheering it in half on impact.
Bertino was found to be under the influence and was transported to the Pocono Medical Center (PMC), East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.
Also on Monday, about 8:53 p.m., officers on patrol along SR196 in Tobyhanna, Coolbaugh Township, observed a disabled motorist along the northbound shoulder. Officers made contact with the driver, identified as Bradley Rider, 43, of Tobyhanna.
Rider was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was then taken to PMC for a blood test. Based on the test results, police said, Rider will be charged with DUI.
