Dear editor:

A vet is someone who, at one point in his life wrote a blank check made payable to the United States of America "for an amount" up to and including his life.

That is an honor and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. There are some of us who were sent into to do a job. We carried out our missions without thought of our own futures and what it held in store for us: now to me that is an American vet!

Please take the time to thank a vet today.
