Justin M. Harakel, 26, a Tuscarora man, was killed in a two-vehicle crash just before 10:30 a.m. Saturday on SR209 at the intersection of Catawissa Road in Schuylkill Township.

State police at Frackville said Harakel was killed when his vehicle, a 1997 Honda Civic, collided with a 1999 Jeep Cherokee driven by Josh E. Fox, 40, of Tamaqua.Police said the accident happened when Fox was traveling southwest on Route 209 and Harakel was driving on Catawissa Road. Police said the initial point of impact was in the southwest lanes of Route 209, after which time both vehicles came to rest in the northeast lane of traffic. Police said both airbags deployed in Fox's vehicles and he was not injured.The two vehicles were towed from the scene by Hope's Collision, Tamaqua.The accident is still under investigation.The highway was closed in both directions for several hours after the crash.Responding were firefighters from Tuscarora, Tamaqua, Mary D and Brockton.
