The Greater Pennsylvania Chapter of the Alzheimers Association is sponsoring a Walk to End Alzheimers Saturday, October 8th as part of the Altzheimers Family Fun Festival & Walk.

All Walk to End Alzheimers donations benefit the Alzheimer's Association, the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research.The mission of the Alzheimers Association is to eliminate Alzheimers disease through the advancement of research and to provide and enhance care and support for all affected.The event will be held at the Koch Wildoner pavilion from 9

a.m.to 3

p.m.at Mauch Chunk Lake Park (MCLP) along Lentz Trail in Jim Thorpe.This will be an opportunity for people to enjoy a day of memories at the Festival and join the Alzheimers Association in a movement to reclaim the future for millions.With more than five million Americans living with Alzheimer's, and nearly 11 million more serving as caregivers, the time to act is now.Walk to End Altzheimers registration begins at 9 a.m. with the walk starting at 10

a.m.and walkers will have their choice of several different routes of varying length.There will be free kid's games, bean bags, sand art, door prizes, Chinese auction, drawings, chair massages, Miss Prissy the Clown, and hay rides.There will also be a bake sale and concessions which will include hot dogs, hamburger barbecue, chicken barbeque, steak sandwiches, and halushki.Along with live music by Liberty, Karate demonstrations by Janner's Martial Arts, and a presentation by Dance with Kim, there will also be a car cruise with Jukebox Cruisers, and a motorcycle run ending at MCLP.At latest count, there were 151 registered walkers so far but organizers noted that you need not participate in the walk to attend and the public is welcome.So, bring your lawn chair and your smile.For more info call Kathryn Ruff (570) 645-3059 or email ka mail to:
