State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating a three vehicle crash in Schuylkill County. It was one of two crashes probed by troopers to have occurred on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
Troopers said the three vehicle crash occurred about 7 a.m. along SR901 at Cressona Road, in North Manheim Township. Amanda Valukevich, 28, of Pottsville, was driving a 2006 Honda Civic eastbound and stopped for traffic ahead of her, which was attempting a left turn onto Cressona Road.
Sean Bachert, 18, of Pottsville, was behind Valukevich and was unable to stop with his 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier side-swiping the Honda. The Cavalier then entered the westbound lane and hit the drivers side of a 1997 Ford pickup truck driven by Jesse Freeman, 35, of Schuylkill Haven.
After impact the Ford continued about 100 feet before crashing into the guard rails. Freeman sustained a minor injury, troopers said, with no other injuries reported. The Cavalier and Ford had to be towed from the scene.
Troopers cited Bachert for following too closely.
The second crash occurred about 7:27 a.m. along SR61, also on North Manheim Township. Troopers said Dustin E. Dewald, 18, of Auburn, was driving a 1996 Toyota Rav4 across 61 at the intersection with Greenview Road and pulled into the path of a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier operated by Jacquelyn A. Hadad, 23, of Douglassville, Berks County, who was southbound. The front of the Cavalier struck the passenger side of the Toyota, troopers said.
No one was injured. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Troopers cited Dewald for stop signs and yield signs.
