Tamaqua Fireman's Relief holds 82nd Annual Memorial Service

More than 100 uniformed Tamaqua firefighters marched into the St. Jerome Catholic Church Sunday evening to pay tribute and remembrance to all their fallen firefighters. St. Jerome Catholic Church hosted the 82nd Annual Memorial Service of the Tamaqua Fire Department's Volunteer Firemen's Relief Association with a worship service and call to remembrance. The department lost 15 of its own since the last memorial service held in May 2010. The East End Fire Company lost Joseph Ruggeri, Edward "Pat" Patrick, John Stapleton and Robert J. "Bip" Delay. Citizen's Fire Company lost Clarence L. Nice. American Hose Company lost John J. Laughlin, John J. Linder, William A. Garber, Jack Templin and Bruce F. Behr. South Ward Fire Company lost Karl C. Miller, George Hankey, John Comisac, Frank Sabol and Herman Lutz. The service also included several community participants. Officers of the Tamaqua Volunteer Firemen's Relief Association are: Tony Maff, president; Randy Schock, vice president; Dan Evans, secretary and Nancy Willing, treasurer. The TVFRA memorial committee is comprised of Marc Valentini, Tom Hartz Jr., Chris Heffelfinger, Jay Hollenbach Jr., Mark Welsh, George Haldeman, Robert Amentler and Mike Angelo. Those assisting with the graves committee are Dale Hadesty, Mark Bower, Keith Oliphant, Jay Stidham Jr., Jason Hartz, William Seldones, Jim Fredericks and Kristy Melchor. The flag committee members were Dave Wertman, Chris Hartz, Bob Boyle Sr. and Tom Schlorf.
