Robert Hosier, 28, no known address, faces charges from an incident which took place on Sept. 4, 2010, at Rite Aid Pharmacy in Lansford. Charges of criminal attempt and forgery were filed by Det./Sgt. Jack Soberick.

Here's what happened, according to an affidavit of probable cause:Soberick had been asked to help with an investigation of an attempt by an individual to obtain prescriptions with an altered document. This had occurred on Sept. 4. The pharmacist, Ted Dacey, had contacted on-duty Officer Brian Zulic and reported that a customer, Hosier, had dropped off a prescription to be filled.However, Dacey noticed the number of pills requested to be dispensed was not correct.The prescription, as presented, was for 120 Percocet (a narcotic painkiller) and 130 Amoxil (an antibiotic). Dacey attempted to confirm the prescription with the writing physician, Dr. Upanavage, but could not speak with him. Dacey, however, learned that the correct number should be 20 and 30 pills, respectively. He did not fill the prescription.After receiving information that Dr. Upanavage desired charges in the case, Soberick asked for and received a brief written statement from the doctor to that effect.On Feb. 7, was finally able to find Hosier at a telephone number in the Palmerton area. He spoke with Hosier, informing him of the allegations, and asked to meet as soon as possible so that Hosier could give police his side of the story.During the course of the conversation, Hosier said that he only tried to get the extra medication because he needed the money and intended to sell the pills at a profit.Soberick again stressed the importance of meeting with him as soon as possible.As of Thursday, Soberick has had no further contact with Hosier, who did not cooperate and did not make himself available to be interviewed.
