Tamaqua Student government slates Prom Week activities

The Tamaqua Area Student Government Association has scheduled a variety of activities leading up to this Friday's Senior Prom. The event will be held at Penn's Peak outside of Jim Thorpe. Traditionally, TASGA has used Prom Week to raise awareness, within the school community, to the dangers of mixing drinking and driving.

Activities for this week include: Monday, Red Ribbon Day; Tuesday, Key Day, where students are encouraged to sign a "key" located in the school lobby, pledging to not drink and drive; Wednesday, Get the Word out Day, utilizing a variety of methods to provide information on alcohol abuse; Thursday, Grim Reaper Day, when students will be selected to portray someone who has "died" due to drunk driving.Students tagged by the Grim Reaper will play dead by refusing to speak for the rest of the day.
