Ex-Lehighton woman's death ruled homicide

The death of a former Lehighton resident has been ruled a homicide.

State police at Bethlehem said the body of Jennifer L. Snyder, 27, of Kressler Road, in Lower Macungie Township, was found about 9:45 a.m. Friday, March 18, in a wooded ravine in the Trexler Nature Preserve, in North Whitehall Township. Troopers said the body had multiple gunshot wounds.Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim ruled the death a homicide.Troopers said Snyder was last seen on Wednesday outside her apartment. She worked at the Maple Hills Veterinary Hospital, along Kressler Road, and lived in an apartment adjacent to the hospital. She had recently moved to the apartment from the Lehighton area, it was reported.It has also been reported that she was two months pregnant.Troopers said on Thursday they responded to a parking lot a few miles away from where the body was found in the 4100 block of Independence Drive in Schnecksville. A vehicle was found there that appeared to be abandoned. Found inside the vehicle was blood on a seat and spent gun cartridges.Snyder was a 2001 graduate of Lehighton Area High School. She then attended Lehigh Carbon Community College where she earned a veterinary technician's degree. She had been working at the Maple Hill business since 2007.Troopers and the Lehigh County's district attorney's office released no other information concerning the death.It was reported that her family has set up the Jennifer Lindsay Snyder Memorial Fund, at the Jim Thorpe National Bank, to help homeless and neglected animals.Donations can be made to any bank branch.According to a family member the fund was set up because Snyder had a passion for caring for animals.
