The first major distribution of the Toys for Tots program in Carbon County was held with 50 registered families receiving gifts. The distribution for the Lehighton area occurred at the Lehighton Sportsman's Club. Toys for Tots is a project of the Marine Corps Leagues Schuylkill-Carbon Counties Detachment. Each child received one new toy, two used toys, and at least three stuffed toys. The children also received crayons and desk sets donated by Binney and Smith. Each mom was given a new pair of gloves.
