Carla Baran weds Joseph R. Pacitti

Carla Baran, daughter of Gregg and Cleo Baran of Tamaqua, and Joseph R. Pacitti, son of Joseph M. Pacitti and Christine Pacitti, and the late Patricia Ann Pacitti of Barto, Pa., were united in marriage on July 2, 2011 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Bethlehem.

The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. George Dimopoulos and the Rev. Nicholas Palis. The string duo of Ryan Stewart and Ian Karraker performed for the ceremony.Given in marriage by her parents, the bride chose Andrea Ferrari of Tamaqua to be her maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Kristen Loy, Lawn, Pa.; Amanda Marchetti, Richmond, Va.; Amanda Reid, Bryn Mawr; Katie Stehly, Bethlehem; Laura Stein, Philadelphia; and Jennel Yelito, Tamaqua.Carolyn Charnigo was a junior bridesmaid, and Elizabeth Charnigo was the flower girl.The bridegroom selected Charles Zagnoli of Chicago, Ill. to perform the duties of best man. Groomsmen included David Berger, Northampton; Ian Duckworth, Falls Church, Va.; Blaise Miller, New York, N.Y.; Andrew Potter, Cambridge, Mass.; Ivano Ventresca, Cambridge; and Jacob Wolfe, Hagerstown, Md.Following the ceremony the couple welcomed family and friends to a reception held at Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie. They honeymooned in Key West, Fla.Pre-nuptial parties for the couple included a bridal shower at the Top of the 80's in Hazleton in April.The new Mrs. Pacitti is a 2004 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School and a 2008 graduate of Elizabethtown College, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in English education. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in American studies at Pennsylvania State University.She is employed as an English teacher at Washington County Technical High School in Hagerstown.Mr. Pacitti is a 2004 graduate of Emmaus High School and a 2008 graduate of Temple University, where he earned a bachelor of arts in English, and a minor in Italian. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in education at Millersville University.He is employed as an English teacher at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts in Hagerstown.The newlyweds currently reside in Frederick, Md.
