Tamaqua man faces DUI count

A Tamaqua man faces charges following an Aug. 5 accident along Owl Creek Road.

Officers were dispatched to the area of 155 Owl Creek Rd. at 2:24 a.m.The caller reported a green Chevrolet Blazer had struck a utility pole then left the scene.Witnesses said the Blazer continued on to 161 Owl Creek Rd., where the male driver parked it to the side, then entered the residence.The officer checked and discovered a green 1996 Blazer with front end damage, consistent with an impact with the utility pole.Debris at the scene also matched pieces missing from the SUV.A registration check determined the vehicle is owned by Dennis Miller, of 161 Owl Creek Rd. Miller told the officer his son had been driving the Blazer that night.When the officer attempted to speak to the son, Travis Miller, 24, he noticed visible signs of intoxication.Miller agreed to take a portable breath test, which determined he had a .162 percent blood alcohol content, more than twice the legal limit of .08.Charges against Miller include driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and hit-and-run of unattended property.
