A letter of commendation was awarded to Nesquehoning Police Officer Dane O'Brien by the borough and mayor as a result of his participation in the bath salts apprehension in the borough. Through his assistance with Chief Sean Smith they were able to capture the perpetrator and no further danger was put upon the borough. At that time the Panther Valley Elementary School was on lock-down. Mayor Tony Walck presented the award to O'Brien.
