The Hungarian Club Auxiliary of Palmerton held its first Easter egg hunt on April 9 at the Little League field.

Plastic eggs were used for the hunt, but each child received a basket with a real egg, a chocolate bunny and other candy, said Nancy Rios, president of the auxiliary.A hot dog, juice box and cupcake decorated like an Easter basket were given to each attendee.The idea for holding the hunt just sort of grew as the members talked among themselves. Since they were not able to get together for an egg-dying party because of people who worked different shifts, groups did the work as they were able."Everybody did something toward the egg hunt," said Lorrie Murch, vice president.The club, founded in 1933, has 800 members which includes many who have moved out of the area but still retain their membership. It is always happy to accept new members. There is no requirement for Hungarian ancestry.The auxiliary has also held events for Christmas, Valentine's Day and Halloween. Money raised goes toward children's projects with the exception of a planned donation toward the Veteran's Memorial to be erected in Palmerton Park.The auxiliary treasurer is Roxanne Stroup and Sherry Van der Bonbeck is secretary.
