Former Tamaqua man violates PFA order

A former Tamaqua man, with no current permanent address, has been lodged in the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, after violating a protection from abuse order.

Tamaqua Police were dispatched to 127 Orwigsburg St. at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday and spoke with Jennifer Yost, 32. Yost told officers she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, Travis Cheslock, 36. Cheslock reportedly went to Yost's home and kicked in a basement door. He then threatened her not to appear at a Wednesday hearing concerning a protection from abuse order issued on Sept. 10. When Yost refused to drop the PFA, Cheslock allegedly struck her in the mouth and eye area. He fled the scene before officers arrived. Officers did observe injuries on Yost's face.At 12:20 a.m., Cheslock returned to Yost's home and was taken into custody. While being arraigned on charges of violating the PFA, burglary, simple assault and harassment, Cheslock noted he was on probation in Carbon County.Bail was set at $20,000. Cheslock was confident he could arrange for a friend to post the required 10 percent, but was foiled in his attempt to gain freedom when Carbon County Adult Probation authorities faxed a detainer to the prison, asking for him to be held there on a parole violation.
