Forgery, theft incidents probed

State police at Lehighton reported investigating several forgery and theft type incidents in recent days.

Isaac Houston Purcell, 31, of 3 Hilltop Acres, Kunkletown, Polk Township, Monroe County, reported someone took personal checks of his and used them to purchase goods at several area stores. The incidents occurred between Jan. 29 and Feb. 5.Erin E. Claudio, 19, of 183 Indian Trail Drive, Jim Thorpe, Penn Forest Township, Carbon County, reported she was forwarded a U.S. Postal money order in the amount of $950. She deposited it in her account at the Mauch Chunk Trust Co. office in Jim Thorpe. She was later told by bank personnel that the money order was fraudulent/counterfeit and lacked the proper water mark. The incident occurred between Feb. 16-25.Jonathan R. Lambeck, 20, of Morrisville, Bucks County, reported the registration plate on his 2002 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck was stolen while parked on the lower lodge lot at the Blue Mountain Ski Area in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. The plate was stolen sometime between noon and 7:30 p.m. on Feb 26.Anyone with information on any of these incidents is asked to call troopers at (610) 377-4270.
