Park Improvement Project receives several contributions

Rush Township has been getting some much-needed help in these harsh economic times. On June 21, Air Products, which has a plant in the township, donated $5,000 to the township's Park Improvement Project. The donation, made to the Recreation Board, was earmarked for the Ryan Memorial Park.

The Park Improvement Project has also received donations from Volunteers for Argall ($25); Mauch Chunk Trust ($200); Mr. and Mrs. Steve Simchak ($20); and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Leibensperger ($20).Also, Mrs. Carol Blaschak-Kahane of Lake Hauto donated filing cabinets, a Power-Point projector, briefcases, meeting tables and chairs in memory of her late husband, Solomon, who passed away on March 12.At a public meeting Tuesday, supervisors acknowledged a letter of thanks from the Tamaqua Industrial Development Enterprises, to the township road crew for patching pot holes in the park's road.In other matters Tuesday, supervisors agreed to purchase an F250 pickup truck to replace the sewer department's van.Also, Cpl. Duane Frederick announced the next Crime Watch meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 4.Supervisors also reminded residents that Schuylkill County remains under a burn-ban.
