The Weatherly Area High School Alumni Association's board of directors met Oct. 20 in the Weatherly Middle School LGI Room, President Todd Gimbi presiding.

The guest speaker was Charles Palermo, who spoke to those present about the progress of the Mrs. Charles M. Schwab School Restoration Project. He said the bank would like to have the closing by Dec. 15.If the building is acquired, the roof and some of the windows will need to be tended to right away.Everyone is encouraged to donate or pledge if they have not done so already.Palermo said the Weatherly Class of 2016 donated its leftover money to the restoration project.Ron Bittner, chairman of the finance committee, said they are still looking for people to serve on the committee. He suggested a line be added to the membership form to have people include their current occupation or what they did before retirement. He also reported that the committee had quite a few requests that were reviewed.A moment of silence was held in remembrance of Philamena Kuchar, Jack Koehler, Patricia Richie, Gladys Bauer, Doris Sturtevant, Donald L. Morgan, John H. Leppler, Eva Woodring and Janet Leibensperger.Bette Rambaran, chairwoman of the scholarship committee, submitted a report stating she is working on getting the mailer and newspaper announcement out. Gimbi is looking to form a committee for the association's 25th anniversary, and is hoping a committee will be formed and he will have information for the January meeting.Board members were reminded that they need to call to be excused from the meeting. The bylaws state that if a board member misses two meetings unexcused, he or she will be removed from the board.Thank-you notes were received from Muskan Khatiwala, Shelby Berger, Casey Grover, Alexis Hartz, Olivia Winheld, and Meghan Moon. Also received were thank-you letters from 2016 All Night Party Committee and Weatherly Area High School Class of 2016, Morgan Mengle, and Traci and Billy Mengle.Refreshments were provided by Jane Suitch.The next board meeting will be 7 p.m. Jan. 19 in the Weatherly Middle School LGI Room.
