Emily Barrett of Barnesville, daughter of Colleen Barrett and Mark Koppenhaver, attended the Westminster Choir College Summer Institute at Ryder University in July after being selected as the 2018 recipient of the Dr. John and Nell Forrest Vocal Scholarship.

A senior at Tamaqua Area High School, Barrett joined students from around the world in the intensive vocal music camp, which focused on choral music performance and vocal training.

The scholarship provided all of the expenses for the two-week long camp.
