State police host missing persons event

The Pennsylvania State Police, in conjunction with the Luzerne County District Attorney’s office and the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, is hosting an event on May 31 to help families who have a loved one missing.

The free event will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. at Wilkes University’s Student Center, 84 W. South St., Wilkes-Barre.

Families and friends of anyone who is missing in Pennsylvania, as well as communities and organizations that are working to locate a missing person are welcome to attend.

Families should preregister to ensure that their loved ones are commemorated during the vigil and slideshow that day.

Attendees are asked to bring as many of these items that you can to the event: two biological relatives, preferably male and female, of the missing person; police reports; dental and body X-rays; doctor and dentist information; photographs and any other identifying documents.

For more information or to register, contact state police Cpl. Shawn Williams at shawwillia@pa.gov; Megan Stone with the Luzerne County district attorney’s office at megan.stone@luzernecounty.org or Amy Dogs with NamUS at amy.dobbs.unthsc.edu.
