Schuylkill County personnel

Schuylkill County’s Acting Prothonotary Albert Gricoski will transfer back to First Deputy in January, as newly elected Prothonotary Bridget McGowan Miller takes office.

Schuylkill County’s race for prothonotary had a large field of Republican candidates, including Gricoski, county Republican Party chair Dan Daub, New Ringgold Councilman Larry Padora and Miller. Gricoski had been appointed as first deputy in January 2019, then transferred to acting prothonotary when then-Prothonotary David Dutcavich retired.

The Schuylkill County Commissioners approved Gricoski’s transfer during a meeting Tuesday. Gricoski was present, and Commissioners’ Chairman George Halcovage thanked him for his service. Gricoski’s salary is $35,468 annually.

“You did an exemplary job,” Halcovage said. “You worked in a professional way.”

Halcovage noted that the county is losing several “good employees” to retirement in January 2020, including electrician/HVAC technician James Zerbe, 911 Training and QA Supervisor Tara Dolzani and Prothonotary Second Deputy Deborah Conway.

In 911/Communication, Dolzani’s post will be filled by Elyse Amato, Butler Township, who will be interim 911 Training/QA Supervisor. Both Conway’s and Zerbe’s jobs are not yet filled.

In other action in 911/Communications, Nicholas Maziekas, Mahanoy City, was transferred from GIS Analyst/Planner to 911 GIS, Mapping Coordinator, at a rate of $23.16 per hour. Stephen Oravitz, Frackville, was promoted from senior level telecommunicator to supervisor, at a rate of $23 per hour. In the prothonotary’s office, solicitor Eric Prock, Pottsville, resigned, and will be replaced by Lloyd Hampton, Butler Township. Hampton will be paid $2,448 annually.
