James Washington Jr., 32, of East Hazard Street, Summit Hill, is facing multiple charges that were filed against him by Summit Hill police after a traffic stop they made at 5:42 p.m. Jan. 10 on Route 902 in the borough.

Police said they pulled over a 2003 Acura Washington was driving because he failed to dim his high beams for oncoming traffic and police saw the car’s license plate light was not functioning property.

Upon approaching the vehicle, police said they noticed an odor of burned marijuana coming from inside the car, after which time the driver admitted he had the controlled substance in his pants pocket. Police said they recovered a clear plastic baggie that contained a green-like leafy substance.

Police said the driver twice identified himself as Anthony Washington, but record checks out of Pennsylvania and New Jersey showed no record of such person. When confronted by police, he then identified himself as James Washington.

He was taken into custody and charged with false identification to law enforcement, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while under suspension, failure to reduce high beams and general lighting requirements.
