Police: Albrightsville man had heroin, Percocet

An Albrightsville man is in the Carbon County Correctional Facility after being arrested by state police at the Fern Ridge barracks on charges that he intended to sell drugs.

Mitchell Peters, 22, is being held on $250,000 bail on two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and one count each of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charges stem from a traffic stop made by a trooper at 9:51 p.m. Sept. 8 at the intersection of South Old Stage Road and McKuen Way in Penn Forest Township. Police said the stop was made due to a registration violation.

During the course of the stop, Peters, who was a passenger in the vehicle, admitted to police that he was in possession of non-medically prescribed marijuana. Police said they instructed him to get out of the vehicle and he was found to be in possession of 180 bags containing heroin, 49 Percocet tablets, a small amount of marijuana, a digital scale and approximately 2 grams of methamphetamine.
