PASR chapter celebrates 50 years

The Carbon County Chapter of Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees recently celebrated its 50th anniversary golden jubilee with a luncheon and meeting at Mahoning Valley Country Club.

Nearly 100 guests attending enjoyed seeing old friends from their teaching years. The theme for this event was “Looking back with pride, striding forward with confidence!”

Molly Phillips, current chapter president, presided and gave opening remarks. Joan Glass, PASR Region 2 director, presented the Outstanding Service to Carbon County Chapter Award to past President Cindy Sabol.

The Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Gloria Bowman.

Seven past presidents attended: Vince Spisak, Janet Hall, Marjorie Balliet, Lucinda Sabol, Sandra Kokinda, James Wentz and Josephine Strausser.

Following the luncheon, entertainment was provided by Ben Peruso, professional comedian, and singalong of oldies music was provided by Byrd Pressly.
