UVO Hometown Hero Banners

The United Veterans Organization of Palmerton is in the process of hanging Hometown Hero Banners throughout Palmerton honoring area veterans. They have reached their deadline of March 15 for the first batch of banners, which will be put up in June.

They are still collection applications for banners with the next deadline of July 15. These banners will be put up in November by Veterans Day. Application forms are available at Bert’s, Shea’s, Country Harvest and the Post Office. Please fill out the forms and mail to the address indicated.

Computer classes

Computer classes are being held at the Palmerton Area Library every Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. April 2 to May 28. Introduction to Computers starts April 2 and runs for five Tuesdays. Intermediate level classes start May 7 and run for four Tuesdays. Call the Library at 610-826-3424 for information.

Mr. Palmerton

Please come out and support the first Mr. Palmerton male beauty pageant. It will be held at the Palmerton Area High School auditorium at 7 p.m. Friday. The event will benefit Student Council.

Lenten Service

Five area churches join together each year for Wednesday evening Lenten Services. Jerusalem UCC, Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Salem-St. Paul Lutheran, St. Matthew’s UCC, and Salem United Church of Christ will hold a joint service on April 3 at St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown. The preacher will be Kathryn Foster. The theme will be “Judge Not.”

A simple soup supper will be held from 6-6:45 p.m. Worship service begins at 7 p.m. Choir rehearsal will be at 6:30 p.m. Choir members from all churches are invited to attend rehearsal and sing each week.

Pictures with Easter Bunny

Pictures with the Easter Bunny will be held at the Aquashicola Fire Company, 270 Little Gap Road, Palmerton on Saturday, April 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is sponsored by Palmerton Class of 1972.

Knitting Club

The Knitting Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library from 6 to 8 p.m. April 1. The club is free and open to anyone interested in knitting and crocheting of all skill levels.

Blue Mountain Fiber Guild

The Blue Mountain Fiber Guild will meet at the Palmerton Area Library at 7 p.m. April 2. The group explores all things related to fiber arts such as spinning, weaving, etc. Come check it out.

Teen Advisory group

The Teen Advisory Group of the Palmerton Area Library is for teen in grades 5-12. Meetings are held at the library the first and third Thursdays of the month at 3:30 p.m.

Gaming Grotto

Gaming Grotto is open to the public and is hosted by Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 N. Third St., Palmerton. The event is held the first and third Friday of each month. For the month of April, dates will be April 5 and 19 from 7 to 11 p.m. This is a free gaming lounge where people can build relationships through the gaming culture. Have gaming systems of all kinds and board games. Refreshments available for small fee.

Support Group

The Carbon County Chapter of The Compassionate Friends is an ongoing support group for parents, grandparents and adult siblings grieving the loss of a child, grandchild or sibling. The group will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. April 2 at the Palmerton Community Ambulance Building, 501 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.
