Nesquehoning Borough Council

Nesquehoning Borough Council acted on the following items during its recent meeting:

• Appointed Paul Kattner, Susan Highland and June Lawton to the housing review board.

• Accepted the resignation of John McArdle from the civil service commission and reported that letters of interest are now being accepted to fill the vacancies.

• Reappointed Ginny Tatusko to the recreation commission

• Councilwoman Abbie Guardiani reminds residents that the new notice of violation fine scale goes into effect on Jan. 1

• Guardiani also reported that there are 453 rentals in the borough and 172 of them never paid to register as a rental for this year. In addition, 44 properties have no running water. These properties are not occupied and are owned by someone living outside the area.

• The next borough council meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Nov. 16. It is a week earlier because of the Thanksgiving holiday.
