A Monroe County teen is facing assault charges following an incident that occurred Sunday around 1:50 a.m. at a residence along Brian Drive in Ross Township.

State police at Lehighton said the 17-year-old boy from Effort came up behind an 18-year-old man from Brodheadsville and struck him on the right side of the head with a liquor bottle causing a large laceration to his head. The suspect then fled the scene.

The victim was able to identify the suspect. The victim was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg, for treatment.

Charges of aggravated assault and related counts will be filed with the Monroe County Juvenile Probation Office, troopers said.
