Malarkey named Second Team all-conference

Muhlenburg junior offensive tackle Ryan Malarkey was recently named to the All-Centennial Conference Second Team.

Malarkey, a graduate of Marian, has made 23 consecutive starts at right tackle for the Mules. This season, he has helped anchor a line that led the conference in fewest sacks allowed and averaged 447.6 yards per game during the regular seasons.

Malarkey has helped Muhlenburg reach the Division III playoffs for the 15th time in the past 19 seasons. Muhlenburg defeated Delaware Valley in the first round before knocking off Randolph-Macon this past Saturday. The Mules will play in the quarterfinals on Saturday against No. 1 ranked and defending National Champion Mount Union.

Malarkey, the son of John and Kathy Malarkey of Jim Thorpe, is in his junior season, having also saw time at center for the Mules.

At Marian, Malarkey was a key member of Coach Stan Dakosty’s 2015 Colt team that won the District 11 championship team, the 2014 Colts who finished as the district runnerup and the 2013 Colt team that claimed the Eastern Conference title.

Ryan is a grandson of John and Jane Malarkey of Tamaqua and the late Bill and Dorothy Kilgore of Jim Thorpe.

He carries a 3.2 GPA and majors in physics at the Allentown college.
