Breakfast

Members of the 1967 graduating class of Jim Thorpe High School will meet at 10 a.m. Monday for breakfast at the Boulevard Restaurant, Lehighton.

Palm Sunday/Maundy Thursday

Palm Sunday weekend, St. John’s Lutheran Church in the Heights will have services at 6 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Distribution of palm fronds and crosses will take place at both services. Sunday school will begin at 9:15 a.m. with a scavenger hunt for the children and breakfast for all. The youth will also be doing a Passion craft.

On Maundy Thursday, there will be a worship service and dinner at the church on South Avenue. Before the service, a public display of a Shroud of Turin will be held at the church, starting at 3 p.m. Hear the history of the shroud and discover how science and faith meet. Bill Wingard, Baltimore, will be the guest speaker. He has given shroud talks in various states, including Texas and Washington. If you wish more information on the display, call the church office at 570-325-4255 or to make reservations for the 6:30 p.m. dinner. Reservations will be taken until Palm Sunday.

Community dinner

The next free community dinner at St. Mark’s Church, Race Street, will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. April 28. The menu this month is baked chicken.
