A Carbon County woman was sentenced to a county prison term on Friday after previously pleading to a drug-dealing charge.

She was one of three defendants who previously pleaded guilty to criminal counts who were sentenced by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

Summit Hill incident

Elizabeth A. Garrett

, 56, of Summit Hill, was sentenced to serve nine to 23 months in prison on a charge of criminal conspiracy — possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. The prison term will be followed by one year of probation.

She was arrested on April 18, 2018, after agents of the state Attorney General’s office and Summit Hill police served a search warrant on her home along East Ludlow Street. Various drugs including heroin were found in the home.

Garrett told the court, “I’m very sorry for everything I did. I’m trying to get better. I’m very remorseful.”

Matika noted in a presentence investigation report prepared by the adult probation office, Summit Hill police said Garrett has been dealing drugs in the community for a few years. He added, the report states “you are a notorious drug dealer in the community.”

In addition to the prison term, Matika ordered Garrett to render 75 hours of community service when paroled, get both a drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and follow any recommendations for treatment, supply a DNA sample, and within 90 days of her release from prison she must secure full time employment.

She began the jail term at 5 p.m. Friday.

State prison

Andrew Paul Lantosh III

, 34, of Slatington, was sentenced to serve a total of nine to 36 months in a state correctional institution on two counts of criminal trespass. On a charge of driving under suspension — DUI related — he was sentenced to serve 45 to 90 days in prison, but must serve the full 90 days. The prison terms run concurrently.

In both cases he admitted entering a property located in the 500 block of Forest Inn Road in Towamensing Township. The entries occurred on July 12 and 14, 2017.

Lantosh is currently an inmate in the Lehigh County prison awaiting sentencing on other charges.

Matika also ordered him to render a total of 100 hours of community service, make total restitution of $4,221.95, get a drug and alcohol evaluation, supply a DNA sample, pay a fine of $500 on the suspension count and have no contact with the victim.

Gets probation

Brandon M. Kuklentz

, 26, Washington, Lancaster County, and formerly of Lehighton, was placed on probation for a year on counts of theft and possession of drug paraphernalia, with the terms running concurrently.

He was arrested on the theft count on Jan. 12, 2016, by Franklin Township police. In that case charges of burglary and related counts were dropped. The drug count was filed for an incident on May 16, 2017, filed by Lansford police.

Kuklentz told the court he had gone through an inpatient rehabilitation program and is currently living in a halfway house and continues counseling sessions.

Matika also ordered him to get a drug and alcohol evaluation (noting a report from his current program would be sufficient) and render 50 hours of community service.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and Garrett and Kuklentz must also pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole and probation.
