Bring biblical morality back

Editor:

I’m responding to Bruce Frassinelli’s column in the Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, edition of the Times News, titled “Banning words is exercise in futility.” In his column, Mr. Frassinelli speaks of “certain words” that are now not allowed to be used by students in a school district. The legal issue is determining the “intent” of the use of the word, and then determining if the offender must take a “sensitivity” training class.

When was the last time anyone read George Orwell’s book “1984?” Notice that in today’s social — and governmental culture — what he speaks of in his book is now coming true. I’m sure that “1984” is now not required reading in high school English class, as it had been in my time.

Society, for decades now, has legislated immorality and amorality into itself, removing any controls that kept civility among people. “Political correctness” is an attempt to break down society and control it. The Bible, the instrument our Founding Fathers used to create this nation, is now anathema. Being anything BUT a Christian is acceptable, because Christians are the only ones who hold to positive (biblical) standards and ethics of living.

The politically correct left keeps trying to judge our past cultural mores, morally right or wrong, by today’s PC standards. That simply cannot be done. It is legalized revenge. That was then, this is now, and what can we learn and implement from it.

A disease cannot be cured by treating the symptoms. You must treat the source. “You reap what you sow,” and now you see the results of removing Christian ethics from our culture. So, to answer Mr. Frassinelli’s quandary about judging the fact or intent in the use of a few words, bring biblical morality back into churches, schools, public places, in our society in general and the watch the results!

Respectfully,

Bruce Morrison
