Two churches in Barnesville and another in Delano welcomed a new pastor over the summer.

The Rev. Robert Peiffer will now oversee the charge of Christ Church and St. Peter’s Church in Barnesville, as well as Faith Church in Delano.

Peiffer, who was born and raised in Lebanon, started his new chapter on June 10, following a four-and-a-half year stint in Ephrata.

“I’ve been putting a real emphasis on getting out and visiting with people in their homes,” Peiffer said. “I’ve found people to be very friendly. A lot of people have had me over for dinner and that’s been really nice. Kind of like something you’d read about in the ’50s. I’ve been struck by people’s kindness, generosity and just friendliness.”

Peiffer offers a Sunday service at each church. Faith Church has Sunday service at 8 a.m., while St. Peter’s Church is at 9:30 a.m., and Christ Church starts at 11:15 a.m.

Peiffer has additional plans on the horizon this fall.

“We are going to be starting a tri-charge Bible study in October; a walk through the Bible,” he said. “That’s going to be midweek. We’re not sure whether or not it’s going to be a Wednesday or Thursday night at 7 p.m. That will be something that we will be attempting to do together.”
