Anniversary: Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Hartman

Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Hartman of Aquashicola recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

They were married Aug. 6, 1949, at the Evangelical Congregational Church in Palmerton by the Rev. Oswald and the Rev. Ditterline.

The couple marked the occasion with a family luau picnic celebrated at their home.

Mrs. Hartman is the former Betty Graver, daughter of the former Clara and Howard Graver of Aquashicola.

She retired from First National Bank of Palmerton, which is now First Northern Bank, after 18 years of service.

Mr. Hartman is the son of the former Lillian and Charles Hartman of Lehighton.

He retired after 33 years with Colonial Life (Chubb) Life Insurance and then was a part-time bus driver for Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit for 20 years.

The couple has two children: a daughter, Eileen, wife of James Schneider of Palmerton, and a son, Timothy and his wife, Angela, of Charlotte, North Carolina.

They have four grandchildren: Corinne, Andrew, Justin and Derek (deceased). They also have nine great-grandchildren: Christopher, Allison, Courtney, Austin, Gabriella, Jake, Grace, Charlotte and Penny.
