Mahoning Township police announced the following arrests:
Caught stealing from vehiclesEdward Campbell, 46, of Lehighton has been charged with theft, receiving stolen property and driving under the influence (two counts).On April 25, 2013, Mahoning Township police received a report from witnesses that a male (identified as Campbell) was entering vehicles in the parking lot of the Carbon Plaza Mall.Police made contact with Campbell and found in his possession a bottle of Gucci cologne. One of the owners of the entered vehicles stated he was missing a bottle of Gucci cologne.During an interview with police Campbell admitted he had stolen the cologne from a vehicle in the parking lot. A blood test showed Campbell had a blood/alcohol content of 0.148 percent.A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 9.Charged with DUIEdward Whitehead Jr., 49, of Andreas, has been charged with DUI, careless driving; driving on right side of roadway.On Jan. 17, police investigated a single-vehicle accident with one injury. A vehicle driven by Whitehead went off the right shoulder on Route 209 south of Spring Street and struck a rock abutment.A passenger in the vehicle was transported to the Lehighton hospital for treatment of injuries.A blood test showed Edward had a BAC of 0.06 percent. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 16.Picked up on warrant, found with heroinJesus Rolon Sr., 33, of Nesquehoning, has been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.On Feb. 20, police took Rolon into custody on a warrant for Nesquehoning police at a residence in the 700 block of North First Street. During the arrest officers found Rolon in possession of 20 packets of heroin.A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 30.
