Coaldale Police seized what may well be its largest cache of drugs on July 3 as they assisted state parole agents from the Allentown District Office.

The state agency contacted Coaldale Police on Monday after one of their parolees, Jerry Breck, 34, of 270 Sixth Street, Coaldale, was caught using a fake urinating device for a drug test. Breck then tested positive, violating his parole.Police made sure no one entered or left Breck’s home until the state agents arrived at 3:30 p.m. A sweep of the house was made and a blue and black lunch bag was found in Breck’s bedroom.The lunch bag contained a large amount of marijuana, 17.5 grams of a chunky brown powder in a sandwich size baggie, 2.3 grams of brown powder in a small zip lock bag, 12 peach color tabs stamped “N8”, 286.7 grams of white crystal that field tested positive for methamphetamine in a large zip lock bag, 58.8 grams of a white crystal like powder small zip lock bags with a candy corn design, total of 9.8 grams of white powder in two sandwich style bags, one large zip lock bag filled with white powder, one bag filled with baggies, three digital scales with white residue, two cellphones and a hot spot device. The powders totaled more than 350 grams of suspected methamphetamine and over 19 grams of suspected heroin.Breck was arraigned before District Magisterial Judge Stephen Bayer Wednesday morning on a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Bail was set at $100,000 straight cash, which the defendant was unable to post.He is now in the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville.Coaldale Police Chief Keith Krapf says “This is the largest drug seizure our department has made, to the best of my knowledge. The Coaldale Police Department wants our citizens to know we will take every effort and use all possible available resources to combat the drug problems plaguing the area.”
