If your kids are in the market for a fun new book, make sure to check out Family Reading Night at Penn-Kidder Campus on Thursday.

Coinciding with Dr. Seuss' birthday and National Read Across America Day, Family Reading Night encourages children to dive into some literature."The purpose is to promote reading in a fun and engaging manner for the families of our school and our community," Title One Reading teacher Lorraine Robins said.The co-effort of the Title One Reading Program and Penn-Kidder's Books are Magical, Marvelous and Magnificent, the event will run from 6-8 p.m. and feature a special "I Spy" game, based on the children's book series by Jean Marzollo."The families will be given a tri-fold which has 12 riddles in it," Robins said. "The answer to each riddle is a character or thing found in a famous children's book. The families are to answer the riddle. At 12 tables in the gym, there will be a poster of a group of objects. Among those objects is the answer to one of the riddles. The families are to write the number of the poster on which they found the answer to the riddle."Once a family finishes the hunt, each correct answer will earn a chance for a basket of books drawing.Other special events will include free photos with Curious George, a book swap, and a PTA-sponsored Scholastic Book Fair and concession stand."In this era of data and testing, we strive to make this a fun event for our families. We hope to encourage reading as an enjoyable pastime and hopefully do a little more to make our children lifelong readers," Robins said.
