Schuylkill County plans dam inspections

Schuylkill County will spend about $20,000 to have required 10-year inspections of dams performed.

Commissioners on Wednesday agreed to a professional services agreement with Waterware of Philadelphia, to conduct a close inspection of the outlet/drawdown conduit, and appurtenances at Hosensock Dam in Ryan Township and Koenig's Dam, New Ringgold.Waterware will provide a four-man confined space entry/penetration dive crew and equipment to perform the internal/external video inspections.The inspections are required by the state Department of Environmental Protection every 10 years.In other matters, commissioners approved a contract addendum with TAC*ONE Consulting, Denver, Colorado.The amendment was needed because the original contract that had wrong quotes attached, said Schuylkill County Emergency Management Agency Coordinator John M. Matz.The total contract will be $52,780 for two SWAT and active shooter trainings.The original contract was for $43,000, which covered only one training, Matz said.Funding for the agreement will be paid through the Homeland Security grant program.
