Nesquehoning VFW Auxiliary meets

The regular monthly meeting of the Nesquehoning VFW Auxiliary to Post 8008 was heldOct. 9 at the post home.

Senior Vice President Christa Kattner presided at the session.Sixty-six cards were sent since the last meeting, and online petitions for veterans' causes were signed by one member. Recent community activities included the 9/11 service, a veterans service at the Panther Valley-Lehighton football game, and transportation to those in need by two members.A bloodmobile was scheduled for Oct. 12.Membership stands at 45 of 65 paid to date. Members are reminded their dues should be paid as soon as possible.The Veterans Day Buddy Poppy event will be held at Redners from Oct. 28-30.There has been no word on the Voice of Democracy or Patriot's Pen programs from Panther Valley yet. The deadline for both programs is Nov. 1 to the post.Three members attended the September District 20 meeting in Milford. The next District meeting will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 20at Tobyhanna.Recent donations included the Carbon County Navy Club for the planned Navy memorial in Nesquehoning and the Department President's Special Project, which is Mental Health Awareness.Plans for the auxiliary Christmas party will be announced at the next meeting.Due to a scheduling problem, the auxiliary inspection by District President Guyette Calles will be done at the next meeting, which will be held at 1

p.m.Nov. 13. All those who planned to bring a refreshment to the October meeting are requested to do so at the November meeting.
