Nesquehoning VFW Auxiliary meets

The regular monthly meeting of the Nesquehoning Memorial Auxiliary to Post 8008 was held on March 11, at the post home with President Christa Kattner presiding.

Two new membership applications were received and approved. General orders 8 were read and filed for action. A thank-you note was received from the Cusanelli and Santore families, along with a letter endorsing Valerie DeCourt for the office of Department Guard.A bloodmobile collection was held at the post on March 8; several members donated.Forty cards were sent since the last meeting. Depending on the weather, a visit to the Knauf Memorial is still planned for March 28, the 75th anniversary of the plane crash; time TBA.Panther Valley's VOD winner, Noah Easterly, will be invited to the Loyalty Day services on May 1 to receive his awards. Annual year-end reports are due to the district president by April 10.The annual Easter egg hunt for members' children and grandchildren will be held at noon on April 8. The sign-up period ended March 19. A prep day for the hunt will be held at 1 p.m. April 4 and the evening of April 7, if needed; any available member may assist with this project. Help will also be needed the day of the hunt.A donation to the VFW Arthritis fund was approved. Three members attended the March 5 District meeting in Tobyhanna, where Department President Donna K. Mills made her official visit.The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. April 9,at the post home. Nomination and election of officers for the 2017-18 year will take place at this session.Any member desiring an office should make their intentions known and attend this meeting.
