Nesquehoning VFW Auxiliary holds April meeting
The regular monthly meeting of the Nesquehoning VFW Auxiliary was held onApril 9 at the post home with President Christa Kattner presiding.
One new member application was approved.General orders 9 were read and filed for action. The JROTC Awards Ceremony will be held on May 24 at the high school; two awards were approved by the auxiliary. The annual department of Pennsylvania Convention will be held June 14 -17 in Pittsburgh.A brief ceremony at the Knauf Memorial was held on March 28 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the plane crash that took the life of Lt. Fred Knauf.Sixty-six cards were sent by members present.A bloodmobile collection will be held at the Post on May 17.The annual Easter egg hunt was held onApril 8 and was enjoyed by the children, who were visited by the Easter bunny.The annual Loyalty Day Program will be held at the post home at 7
p.m.May 1. All members and the public are invited to attend.Buddy Poppy days at Redner's will be May 19-21; a sign-up sheet for time slots is available at the club. A sign-up sheet for the Buddy Poppy King and Queen is also available at the post home.Donations were made to the American Cancer Society Telethon, Department Flag Fund, Department President's Love Gift and the Barger Nursing Scholarship Program.Election of officers for 2017-18 were held. The following were elected for the one-year term: President Christa Kattner; Senior Vice President Tony DeMarco; Junior Vice President Missy Hascher; Treasurer Maureen Hirochek; chaplain Linda Paul; conductress Ellen Driesbach; guard Lewis Hirochek Sr.; trustees: three-year Tony DeMarco, two-year Mary Ann Feinsilber; one-year Corrine Kattner.Appointed officers are: Secretary Missy Hascher; patriotic instructor Ellen Driesbach; historian Maureen Hirochek; flag bearers (4) Holly Reese, Cheri Santore, Missy Hascher, Cathy O'Gorman; banner bearer Mary Ann Feinsilber; musician Tillie Lakata. The installing officer will be Maureen Hirochek. Joint installation of officers will be held onMay 26.Due to Mother's Day falling on the next scheduled meeting date, the next meeting will be held at 6:30
