Six first time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program on Tuesday by county judges.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean. However, if the fail to complete the program, or is revoked from it, the Commonwealth reserves the right to prosecute them on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.Placed by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II were:Steven Holtzer, 18, of Lansford, was placed for a year in two pending cases. He was charged with theft by unlawful taking on Nov. 20, 2010, for allegedly taking a donation jar belonging to the Carbon County Friends of Animals at Deezin's Flower Shop in Jim Thorpe.The second case also involves a theft count for an incident at the same location and date as the first case with Denise Sebelin the victim. In that matter he was accused of taking $30 in U.S. currency from a cash register at the flower shop.He was ordered to pay $350 for the cost of the program, make restitution in an amount to be determined by the adult probation office and render 20 hours of community service. The conditions cover both cases.Cindy Lopez, 18, of Lansford, was placed for a year on a charge of retail theft. She was arrested on Jan. 14 at the Wal-Mart store in Mahoning Township. She was charged with taking $175 worth of merchandise.She was ordered to pay $350 for the cost of the program, make restitution in an amount to be determined by the adult probation office and render 15 hours of community service.Theresa A. Perez, 31, of Lansford, was placed for a year on a charge of retail theft. She was arrested on Jan. 14 at the Wal-Mart store and charged with taking $219.69 worth of merchandise.She was ordered to pay $350 for the cost of the program, make restitution in an amount to be determined by the adult probation office and render 15 hours of community service.The following were placed by Senior Judge Richard W. Webb.Christopher Paul Corradi, 31, of Middletown, Bucks County, was placed for two years on a charge of burglary. He was charged in connection with a break-in that occurred on Jan. 1 at the residence of Myra Elaine Volpe, of Towamensing Township.He was ordered to pay $350 for the cost of the program, get a mental health evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, render 15 hours of community service and make restitution in a amount to be determined by the adult probation office.Jeremy W. Dorshimer, 34. of Palmerton, was placed for a year on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI). He was arrested on Jan. 15 along Fifth St., in Palmerton. Given a test, the result was .20BAC.He was ordered to pay $450 for the cost of the program, get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, and license suspended for 60 days.Kristin Noel Haupt, 22, of Lehighton, was placed for a year on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Oct. 10, 2010, by state police along SR248 in Bowmanstown. Given a test, the result was .13BAC.She was ordered to pay $400 for the cost of the program, get a D&A evaluation and license suspended for 30 days.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
