Miles Mertz, mayor of Palmerton, was named head of the annual drive for funds of the Panther Valley-Carbon County Unit of the American Cancer Society at a meeting held in Lansford. The goal set for this year is $12,500. District drive chairmen are Mrs. James Moyer, Tamaqua; Frank McCartney, Lansford; George Reabold, Lake Harmony; Mrs. Gladys Youngcourt, Audenried, and Stephen Goidich, Palmerton.
