Six first time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program on Thursday by Senior Judge Richard W. Webb.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record his wiped clean. However, if a person fails to complete the program or is revoked from it, the Commonwealth reserves the right to prosecute them on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year.Timothy Lee Eckhart, 23, of Lehighton, was placed on a charge of simple assault. He was arrested on Oct. 30, 2010, by Palmerton police for an incident at the Palmerton borough garage.Webb ordered he pay $350 for the program, get both drug and alcohol (D&A) and mental health evaluations and follow any recommendations for treatment, and render 15 hours of community service.Jeffrey T. Lynn, 47, of Lehighton, was placed on a charge of driving under the influence (DU). He was arrested on May 25, 2009, along SR248 in Palmerton by state police. Given a test, the result was .19BAC.He was ordered to pay $500 for the cost of the program, get a D&A evaluation and his license was suspended for 60 days.Jeffrey Keith Rehrig II, 32, of Palmerton, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on July 23, 2010, along Columbia Ave in Palmerton. Given a test, the result was .11BAC.Webb ordered he pay $400 for the cost of the program, get a D&A evaluation and license suspended for 60 days.Christopher Guy Romano, 33, of Kunkletown, was placed on a charge of DUI. He was arrested on July 2, 2010, along Pohopoco Drive in Franklin Township by state police. Give a test, the result showed the presence of a controlled substance in his system.He was ordered to pay $450 for the cost of the program, get a D&A evaluation, license suspended for 60 days and render 20 hours of community service.Joseph William Walck, 21, of Palmerton, was placed on a charge of corruption of minors. He was arrested on Sept. 21, 2010, in Palmerton for allegedly supplying alcohol to female juveniles.Webb ordered he pay $350 for the cost of the program and render 15 hours of community service.Richard J. Yaple, 32, of Kunkletown, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on May 23, 2010, along Hahns Dairy Road in Lower Towamensing Township, by state police. Given a test, the result showed the presence of a controlled substance in his system.He was ordered to pay $450 for the cost of the program, get a D&A evaluation and render 20 hours of community service.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
