A motion to change the name of St. John's Lutheran Church, North Street, Jim Thorpe, was rejected by the congregation. The change in name was suggested in an effort to avoid confusion with other congregations bearing the same name. George W. Smith was re-elected to a three-year term on the church council. Other councilmen re-elected were Nathan Melber and Norbert Hawk. Smith has served 39 consecutive years on the council.
